The services at St. Matthew's Church, Helensville, on Sunday next will be conducted by the Bishop of the Diocese 1 The local election is all off, and the ECHO is of the opinion that the new Town Board Commissioners are true and honest. Postmaster Ansell of Helensville is now enjoying his annual furlough, and is being relieved by Mr Martin, of the Auckland staff. Colonel alphabetical Patterson is expected here to-morrow. You ask G.W.S.W. how the Bay of Islands was forty years ago! . What ? Old-timer Mrs Parker is now enjoying the Springs, with two grandchildren (Master and Miss Cleaveland). Pleased to see any friends at first house on the road, Another Bishop is coming amongst us by next special. The other Bishop (Archie) is always with us. However, spiritual comforts are heavenly on both sides of the fort. Bpyd and Co., draped, etc., Laßoche's Buildings,., announce their last week of sale. The Bishop of Auckland (Right Rev Dr. Averill) will arrive in Helensville on Friday next by the express, and will probably stay at the Springs until Tuesday or Wednesday next. " Chinese Vengeance," a tense Oriental drama, is to be screened at the Star Theatre on Saturday evening next. This is a quack-moving, fascinating story in which the children of a white girl, who married a Chinaman, are the chief characters.

The second monthly Military Service will be he held on Sunday next, 24th hist, in the Star Theatre, at 2.30 p.m. The Bishop of Auckland (Right Rev. Dr. Averill) will officiate.

The following Helensville boys proceeded to camp with the 21st Reinforcements on the 19th inst (Tuesday last) :—Messrs A. McLeod, G. A, McDonald, W. Bell, F. Reynard, and E. Vipond. Good luck to them.

On Thursday evening last, 14th inst., in the Star Theatre, Mrs W. Tilly gave a social dance to the public of Helensville in honour of her son, Private E. C. McLeod, who has been home on leave from the Trentham Training Camp. Between sixty and seventy people, were present, and a most enjoyable time was spent, Mrs Arlidge supplying the music in her usual efficient style. Mr McAnn alley officiated as M.C., and kept things going merrily till about 2 a.m. Pte. McLeod returned on Wednesday to camp, and leaves with the 18th Reinforcements.

On Wednesday night next at the Star Theatre, one of the most original and striking stories from the pen of Jack London, "The Sea Wolf," will be screened The story opens with the sinking of a ferryboat in San Francisco harbour—all the passengers are drowned except Humphrey Van Weyden (a cultured 'young man), who is picked up by Wolf Larson, captain of the Ghost. Larson is a person of exceedingly primitive instincts, which are outraged by the obvious superiority of his unwilling passenger. The latter becomes an object for brutal treatment at- the hands of the ruthless skipper ; the situation is worked up toa" critical pitch, and takes the form of a battle between Weyden's wits and the captains privileged cruelty.
