Mr. J. Jones, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports:— Bnsiness in the fruit and produce market this week has been fairly brisk, Local apples are short, and selling well. Potatoes are in heavy supply, and a good demand exists ; seed are now in great demand. Eggs and butter are firmer, Poultry came forward in good supply, but the market shows a weakening tendency, and prices are a shade lower. Pigs are much firmer, POULTRY Hens, prime condition 4/6 to 4/9, good to 4/4, ordinary 3s to 3/5, poor 2/6 to 2/9 ; pullets, strong demand, 5s to 7/3 geese, 5s to 6/6; turkeys, gobblers, 8/ to 13/9, hens 4s to 7s ; roosters, prime 5s to 5/6, good 4/3 to 4/10, smaller 3/3, to 4s; ducks, 4s to 5/. Pigs—l 4/ to £1 5s 6d. ' ~ FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern table £10 to £10 10/, Southern seed (Gamekeeper and Northern Star) £7 to £8 10s, new table l^d to 2d ; Swedes, £3 to £4 ; pumpkins, £5 to; £5 9s; kumeras, 5/6 to 7/6 ; onions, £8 to £9. DAIRY PRODUCE Butter, '1/1 to 1/2 ; eggs, Is to 1/1 ; cheese, 9d to lOj^d ; hams, lOd to HHd; bacon, sides lOd to 11 ; honey, 3^d to 4Hd; lard, Is per lb. FRUIT Apples, 13/6 to 17/6, cookers to 12/6 ; lemons, prime 8s to 9/6, coarse to 5s ; P.M. oranges, 8s to 10s ; passion fruit to 9/6. GRAIN Maize, 3/9 to 4/6 (according to quality), Wheat, to 5s 6d; oats, to 3s 6d ; Algerian oats, 4/9; bran, £5 10s ; sharps, £9 ; barley, 4s 3d; Southern chaff, £7 to £8, local £5 to £5 15s ex store.
