Mr. J. Jones, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports :— The market this week showed a great improvement, and values in most lines are firmer. Poultry came forward in increased numbers, and values are high, and for good-conditioned birds extreme high prices were obtained. White Leghorn pullets are selling very- well. Potatoes' and onions are firm. Fruit is short supply to a strong demand. Butter and eggs are selling well. Owing to the last few days of fine weather a large inquiry has set in for seed potatoes. Prime quality are in demand. POULTRY Market firm. 760 penned. Choice pullets, strong demand, 5/ to 7/6 ; Hens, prime condition 4/6 to 5/3, good to 4s, ordinary 3s to 3/3, poor 2/6 to 2/9 ;. geese, .4s to 5/6 ; turkeys, gobblers, 8/ to 13/6, hens 4s to 7s ; roosters, prime 5s to 5/6, good 4/3 to 4/10, smaller 3/3 to 4s; ducks, 3s. to 4/6. Pigs—l 2/6 to £1 2s 6d. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern table £10 to £10 10/, Southern seed (Gamekeeper and Northern , Star) £7 to £3 10s, local seed £5 to £7 ; Swedes, £3 to £4; pumpkins, £5 to £7 6s; kumeras, 5/6 to 7/6 ; onions, £8 to £9. DAIRY PRODUCE Butter, 1/1 to 1/2; eggs, Is to 1/1; cheese, 9d to lO^d; hams, lOd to ll^d; bacon, sides lOd to llj^d; honey, 3^d to 4Hd; lard, Is per lb. FRUIT Apples, 9/ to 15/6, cookers 7s to 9/4 ; lemons, prime 8s to 9/6, coarse to 5s ; P.M. oranges, 83 to 10s ; passion fruit to 9/6. GRAIN Maize, 3/9 to 4/6 (according to quality).
