PRODUCE MARKET
Mr. J. Jones, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports:—
This week the market has been exceptionally heavy, and all lines have been cleared at satisfactory' rates. The poultry market is very firm, and for good conditioned birds, also for white Leghorn pullets, high prices have been obtained. Though a large number of birds have come forward, prices are now firmer than last report. We do not expect prices to lower for some time for any ■ good, birds. Pigs are in good demand. The grain market is firming. Potatoes, butter, and eggs are a shade lower. POULTRY Hens, prime condition 3/9 to 4/6, good to 3/4, ordinary 2/9 to 3s, poor 2/4 to 2/7 ; pullets, white and brown Leghorn 3/9 to* 7/2; mixed 3s to [3/6 ; ducks, 3/10 to 5/3 ; geese, 4s to 5s ; turkeys, gobblers 7/6 to 12/6, hens 4s to 8s ; roosters, prime 4/6 to 5/9, *good 4s to 4/3, smaller 2/6 to 3s, cookrells 1/6 to 1/IQ.
