ONE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH,

TO THE EDITOR.

Slß,—Thank you for placing well that which deserves to be well placed—one Church for all. And thanks to your correspondent, " Holy Catholic," for his letter, in your last issue, of friendly criticism on my sermon. But! Mr Editor, I wonder who gave him his name—" gui home est ?'?

And in reply to Mr S. L. P. Rimmer rs criticism —same sermon and same issue— I need not say much. Mr Rimmer labours the word creed. But nothing was said about a Church with no creed. It would be a Church with every creed. I re-affirm my Bible inference of children's heavenly enrolment. And I challenge Mr Rimmer to say it is false.

Scripture is a matter of interpretation. Mr Rimmer quotes," "Ye must be born again." Sincerely I believe that Jesus was referring to the resurrection. Also Mr Rimmer quotes, " Broad is the way that leads to destruction and many go in thereat." The present war of Europe, intemperance, gambling, divorce, impurity, and all forms of cruelty, etc., make up such a way. And unfortunately for all many are in it to-day. Mr Rimmer also refers to a judgment in Matthew 25. But that Scripture speaks only of nations, not ,of individuals. Mr Rimmer says that German Huns, etc., cannot love Jesus. It is true that they can not in atrocious crimes. At other times they may. A Christian man may sincerely worship on Sunday. But because of a domestic circumstance, and a peculiar disposition, he may not speak to his own wife for hours at a time. And I am afraid there are times when any man might fail in his love for Jesus. Then, sir, your correspondent ends his criticism in a fit of madness. And I can not follow him.—l am, etc.,

James A. Lamond. The Parsonage, Kaukapakapa, 19th June, 1916.
