THE KAIPARA AND WAITEMATA ECHO WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED "THE KAIPARA ADVERTISER & WAITEMATA CHRONICLE." HELENSVILLE, THURSDAY, June 15, 1916 THE LYING AGE.

KAISER THE CHIEF, OR LIAR

THE FIRST.

THIS old world of ours, which one and another of us are permitted to dwell upon for a few short years, has passed through many Ages, such as the Stone Age, Iron Age, Wooden Age, Golden Age, and many other Ages, but since the Kaiser is so gifted in telling untruths, and therefore a great creator of lies, and, moreover, says—" I feel proud and joyful that my creation and my life's work has proved," etc., we must now be living in the "Lying Age." —What the Kaiser says, millions of Huns will back-up.

No one upon earth can make the Kaiser swallow the leak, or believe that the British gained a great naval victory in the North Sea recently, and for which a Te Deum is to be sung in St. Paul's, London, and churches throughout the world generally next Sunday aftermoon. We have not yet got at the truth of the German losses in the North Sea naval battle, nor are we likely to get it, but information leaks out occasionally from many sources, and the German losses in ships of war and men are becoming stupendous.

The Telegraaf (Amsterdam) believes'that financial, not military reasons, were behind the German suppression of the truth regarding the naval battle, and that they minimised their losses in order to obtain the new war credit. But that does not alter the fact that the Kaiser still takes God's name in vain, just to keep his people quiet, as it were, as we have it by cable, that the Kaiser, replying to congratulations from the Duchy of Saxe-Meiriingen, on the North Sea fight, said : " God helped our brave blue lads. I feel proud and joyful that my creation and my life's work has proved, with God's help, such a sharp weapon." Again, on board a flagship at Kiel, after the remains of his fleet had skedaddled home, he said —" Men !My brave men ! The German bluejackets, who recently gained such a huge naval battle, will yet know the English rats by tens of thousands." We shall see!
