A NEW INDUSTRY.

THE N.Z. Pumice Co. are making good progress with their Manurmi works. Although the plant will not be completed until the end of the present month, in order to execute urgent demands of customers in the South Island, the company shipped away 6000 sacks in a fortnight without the preliminary , treatment. An illustration of the weight before and after drying and grinding is revealed in the fact that the pumice shipped away contains X3O per cent of moisture, which will not be present in future consignments. The plant will turn out when once completed and running full time, between 7000 and 8000 sacks per week.
