Several inquiries of late . have been made as to what has become' of the Helensville Brass Band, as its strains with big drum accompaniment have not been heard for months past. We never knew a Band keep together and blow together unless managed by the local body. The public do not respond sufficiently, and men and instruments go astray. We are pleased to note that the Town Board are about to negotiate ' for the management of our Band.

The management of the Star Theatre has secured an exceptionally good-set of picture programmes for the festive season. For Christmas Eve (Friday) they have " The Crimsom Moth," a Biograph pfcture-play of more than ordinary merit, founded upon a family legend, and in the many exciting and thrilling scenes of which superstition, love and avarice play a leading part. On Christmas night (Saturday) No. 5 of the ever popular. " Adventures of Kathlyn" will be the star feature of a well-selected and varied programme On Wednesday evening will be shown Marie Corelli's famous novel, " The Vendetta," whrch takes up three parts' of the programme.
