CHURCH AI.NIVERSARY ' • 4 The 35th anniversary of the ' | Methodist Church at Kaukapa- "| kapa was celebrated on Sunday, - 3. December 12. Services were held ''$ at 11 and 7.30, and the Rev. T. G. • j Brooke, Organising Secretary, % preached to large congregations. ' Ji M^F. Dye, organist, arranged a •"% good musical programme for both , ' services. Mr Knight sang, as a ~\ solo, at the morning service, { " O rest in the Lord," and Miss '| Waddell sang " Happy Land." ' X; The Rev. Brooke preached an $ appropriate sermon on Hebrews < Jt 3, 6: " Whos« house are we." ~\ At the evening service Mr Knight .{ sang " Nearer my God to Thee," :) and the Misses Waddell and CHardy rendered " O Lovely •.•' Peace " , Mr Brooke preached a 'iv; stirring sermon on Matthew 16, i l> 18: ''On this rock I will'build ' My Church." TENNIS CLUB. The official opening of the ; tennis court at Kaukapakapa took place on Thursday last. Mr F. Dye (president) gave a very suitable address, and declared the court open. /Many visitors were -•' present, and a pleasant afternoon ' was spent by all. The Club provided afternoon tea, and the proceeds were given to the Soldiers' Fund.
