FAREWELLING THE BOYS

A few weeks ago, before going into camp at Trentham, Private C. F. Berger gave a very pleasant party in the Hall for his friends in Makarau and surrounding districts.

Last week Private Berger was home on final leave, and his friends gave a dance in his honour on Wednesday last. During the evening he was presented with a case of handsome silver-mounted pipes. Mr W. Gardner made the presentation, wishing him God-speed,- and a safe return. Private Berger suitably; responded

Although his home is in Aharoa Private Berger has spent the greater part of the last four years in Makarau, and during that time he has gained the esteem and good-will of old and young, and he bears the good wishes of all with him. He returned to camp on Saturday in company with Private A. Sanderson, of Ahuroa.
