Battle in Servia — Bulgarians Attacking French — Fighting at Krithia—The Fall of Qorz

The French have gained ground in the direction of Krivolak. a town on the Salonika Nish railway, south-east of Koprulu,. and have captured several important heights. Heavy French guns are bombarding Prilep, about midway between Monastir and Koprulu. Eighty thousand Bulgarians are attacking the French. A fierce battle is proceeding.

It is reported that the Tsar has promised" Servia that the Russians will enter Bulgaria within a week. It is also stated that Italy has promised 40,000 men.

There is an unofficial report from Milan that the Italians have captured Gorz, on the Isonzo front, 35 miles north-west of Trieste. It is officially announced in Paris that Gorz is no longer tenable by the Austrians. It js reported that the Russians are preparing for a general offensive movement. The freezing of lakes, rivers, and marshes will make the defensive more difficult.

A battalion of Austrians who were crossing tne Styr River, south, of Pripet, were drowned, Russian artillery breakiug the ice.
