The first match of the season for :f the "roo>ters," was played on Satur- - bay, 13th uist., when last year's hold ere. Messrs Oullpns and Stringer met : and defeated Messrs Ciiaunou and ; Field", by 35 to 9
On S iturday last, Messrs Ellett and Aitxeuheaa were defeated by tue same pair by 29 to 10.
Aleasrr Hummond and D. Ross try conclusions with the Wdors on S .t----urdaj afternoon.
Miss Ganley was responsible for the clever "Dances of the Allies" by her many pupils, who.really excelled themselves in every particular, every item being encored. The programme, which was a pleasant break in the monotony of pea-guessing, guessing dolls' ages, and other frivolities, was as foilows :—
Sailors' Hornipe, Misses L. Carleton M. and P. Hill, L. Field ; Highland Fling, Misses J. Sellars, E. Sim ; Irish Washerwomen, Misses I. Menzies, M. Meinhold, I. Rogers ; Whip Dance : New Zealand, Misses K. McGarvey, I. Rawson, W. Ferrall, and Australia, Misses E. Bishop I. Pook, R. Rogers; Belgian Doll Parade, Misses Z. Menzies and G. Rawson, Masters Hand and Meinhold; French Dance, Misses M. Bishop and E. McGarvey; Italian Dance, Misses M. Simcock and M. Hughes; Russian Folk Dance, Misses E. Donovan and E. Eames. After this item, the curtain was rung down, after which Britannia (Miss W. Wharton), and Red, White and Blue (Miss J. Coulter) appeared, and the whole were grouped into a splendid tableau, which was loudly applauded.
The takings came to £76 17s 6d
