CHURCH OF ENGLAND VICARAGE FUND CONCERT
THE concert held in the Star Theatre last evening, in aid of the Vicarage Fund, was a decided success, the Hall being well filled with an appreciative audience. The stage was nicely fitted-up, and the lighting arranged with good effect. The programme opened with the NationalAnthem. Mrs J. Carter accompanied the musical items on the piano with excellent taste and execution. Messrs J. Carter and Fenton were repeatedly encored for their violin selections. Mrs Burgess sang a couple of items very sweetly, and received an en-'fhusiastic-encore. Mr D. Rennie rendered his items in good voice and able manner, he also being encored. The farcical comedy, ' A Regular Fix," occupied the second half of the programme, and was performed with great success. Mr Hugh de Brass (Mr J. Carter) kept the audience in roars of laughter throughout with his humorous conception of the part as the hero "In a Fix." The remainder of the company also did full justice to their parts.
