DEATH AT KUMEU

AN old-age pensioner named Mary Kennedy, aged 62, and whose husband (Thomas) predeceased her some 18 months ago, died rather suddenly in her whare on the gumflelds of Kumeu on the morning of the. 12th inst. Deceased had been many years in the district, and had been in Auckland Hospital for some months, being discharged therefrom in July last as incurable. Deceased suffered from malignant disease of the stomach, and as the chief medical hospital doctor certified to that effect, x no inquest was deemed necessary. Const. Driscoll went out to Kumeu on Tuesday to make arrangements for the burial of deceased, who appeared to have had a number of old friends, and several women were,, in attendance. Mr A. Becroft senr., conducted the undertaking business on Wednesday, which, almost needless to say, was at the Government expense.
