MORE LIGHT
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—One may well ask " what is the matter with Helensville ?" Everywhere you go there is something to complain about, but thanks to city fathers, one can generally get satisfaction, should the complaint be an ordinary light one to see into and to rectify. Not so, however, -with the railway authorities, who are continually over the mark for being behind the times. After a shower, take the beastly, sloppy footpath going through the Tailway. gate to the station, and worse still is the road off the said footpath to the station entrance. There should be tons of cinders _and olinkers available to keep both path and road in decent repair, and if not, then tons of scoria ash are easily obtainable by the most neglectful Government department out of the big city. Look at the disgraceful state of affairs on Saturday night last, when a train-load ot passengers arrived at 7.20 p.m., in the dismal pitch darkness, some not knowing where to find road or path to the town, or get out of the network of rails, all for the want qf a light. Such neglect is a shame and a disgrace to any town, let alone Helensville. 1 wonder what the Premier or Sir Joseph Ward, or any other member of the Government, would say is they received such shabby treatment on arrival ?—I am, etc.,
Disgusted.
