Kovno Forts Falling — Advance of
Italian Armies — Zeppelin Raid on London — Ten Civilians Killed
A message from Berlin states that the Germans have captured Kovno, but the Petrograd reports say the Russians hold the fortifications on the right bank of the Niemen.
The Italians report considerable advances in the Eastern Tyrol and in the Tolmino region, and a brilliant success on the Qflfrso Plateau. '^ae New Zealanders and Australians on Gallipoli were engaged in heavy fighting last week-end, the Turks making strong attacks against the right flank of their position. All the attacks were repulsed.
The French are maintaining their ascendency over the enemy in artillery duels and grendade Fghtmg. Two German batteries in the Vosges were destroyed in a French bombardment.
A squadron of Zeppelins flew over the eastern counties of England on Tuesday night and dropped bombs on the outskirts of London. Ten people were killed and 36 injured, all being civilians. It is believed that one of the Zeppelins was hit by antiaircraft guns.
