HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD

THUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 1915

PRESENT Comrs. E. T. Field (chairman), J. Lambert, J. Wilson, T. Elliott, G. Sellars, A. Becroft, and the clerk (Mr H. W. Stringer). MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence read and either -dealt with or laid upon the table. —Fire Brigade Site. — The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Jas. Stewart re his offer of a site in Garfield Street fc/r the erection of a Fire Brigade station, and failing satisfactory reply, the Fire Brigade Committee were authorised to negotiate for a site elsewhere. —Fire Bells.— Com. Lambert proposed and Com. Becroft seconded —That a fire alarm bell be erected on a site in Helensville South to be approved by the Roads Committee. —Fire Brigade Locker.— Moved by Com. Becroft and seconded by Com. Lambert — That the Board approve of the erection of a small locker near the Picture Theatres, in which to store a hose and hydrant. — Money Wanted. —■ Com. Elliott proposed and Com. Wilson seconded —That steps be taken to place the loan debentures on the market, and for that purpose the Clerk approach some of the financial institutions in Auckland. —Dam to be Cleaned. — On motion of Com. Lambert, seconded by Com. Becroft, it was decided —That immediate steps be taken to have the dam cleaned out. —Board Powerless, — Mr A. Becroft, jnr., wrote asking why the Board refused permission to allow electric light to be taken from his power-house to two business places in Commercial Road.—The Clerk was instructed to reply tbat the Board had no power to grant the permission. —Lighting the Town. — Moved by the Chairman and seconded by Com. Lambert — That the agreement for concession for coal gas lighting be signed, and that the proposer, with Corns. Becroft and Lambert, be authorised to sign on behalf of the Board. FINANCE Dr. balance at Bank, £395/2/0. Accounts amounting to £133/17 were passed for paymeent.
