German Attacks Fail — Russians Standing Firm — Successful Counterr-Strokes—Further Italian Progress — Heavy Cannonade in France

The Russians have checked the German advance across the Narew, and have delivered successful attacks on both banks of the river. At one point the enemy was compelled to make a hasty retreat. A German attack south-west of Warsaw was also repulsed.

Xhe Italians report continued progress on the Isonzo front. The Austrians were driven from Monte Desibusi aftei sanguinary fighting.

The French in Alsace have completed the capture of strong German works on crests in the Vosges commanding the Valley of the Fecht. The cannonade in North France has become more intense.

A correspondent at the Dardanelles reports that the Turkish attacks are losing their vigour, though prisoners declare that the Turks are plentifully supplied with rifles an ammunition.
