THURSDAY, JULY 8, 1915
PRESENT - Comrs. E. T. Field (chairman), J. Lambert, J. Wilson, T. Elliott, G. Sellars, J. Stewart, and the clerk (Mr.H.W. Stringer). MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence read and either dealt with or laid upon the table. Disallowed. Messrs Sandin and Cullens made application for permission .to erect electric wires from Mr Becroft's power-house to their shops to enable them to light up same with electric light.—Applications not allowed. Control of Wharf. . A letter was received from tb.9 Minister for Marine, vesting control of the wharf at Helensville South in the Town Board. — A committee, comprising the Chairman, Comrs. Elliott, Wilson and Sellars, was appointed to draft report and regulations to submit to the Board. Sewer Connection. Com. Elliott proposed and Com. Wilson seconded —That the Clerk advertise -in - the local paper notifying all ratepayers tnat they must connect their premises with the main sewer within one month. Lighting the Town. The Chairman proposed and Com. Sellars seconded—That the Town Board grant a 30-years' concession to Mr T. W. Butcher to light streets and municipal buildings with coal gas at the rate of 6/8 per 1000 cubic feet. The public to. be supplied at the rate of 9/2 per 1000 cubic feet for lighting, 7/6 per 1000 cubic feet for cooking, and 6/8 per 1000 cubic feet for power. Other terms to be subject to discussion between the Town Board and Mr Butcher. Purer Water.' Com. Wilson proposed and Com Lambert seconded —That the Engineer be asked to report (and give an estimate as to cost) as to the best method of cleaning the dam. The special committee to suggest to the Engineer the methods proposed by them as a result of their visit to the dam. Filling in Approaches. The Chairman proposed and Com. Lambert seconded —That the Board employ their own men, and secure a horse and dray, for the purpose of carting earth from Fifth and Sixth Avenues for filling in at the new bridge. ' Delayed Payment. The Chairman proposed and Com. Wilson seconded—That the Waitemata County Council's account for repairs to Pipitiwai culvert be paid as soon as funds are available. A Gentle Move. j Com. Elliott proposed and the j Chairman 'seconded —That the ! rate to provide interest on the £300 loan be not collected at present. | H. & C.A. Rate. I In pursuahse of notice of i motion, the Chairman proposed and Com. Wilson seconded —That a rate of 3-16ths of Id in the £ be struck for the ensuing year for Hospital and Charitable Aid rate. Government Subsidy Requires. Com. Elliott proposed and Com Lambert seconded —That application be made to the Government for a £ for £ subsidy up to £150 for repairs to Awaroa road. Work to Stop. The Chairman proposed and Com. Wilson seconded —That the drainage work in Awaroa Road be discontinued. A One-Man Job. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Com Wilson, it was decided to employ only one surfaceman, except in case of special work. FINANCE
