GOLF. LOCAL COMPETITIONS THE first competition of the Helensville Golf Club for t_-opoies p.-esented byMr F. Hood, of Auckland, resulted :— Ladies —Mrs Peacock. Gents—Mr Mc._innon. ' Next Saturday, 26th inst., a ladies competition for D.\ Phippen's trophy will take place. Med.,'. play ; cou.-se of 12 holes ; players choose partners. On the following Saturday there will be a " bogey " match for gents. Mr Wenzl Scholium, proprietor of the Hot Springs Hotel, Waiwera, has offered the G overnment the free use of fifty bedrooms for convalescent soldiers.
