Italy Mobilising—Troops on Frontier —Vast Galician Battle—Fightat the Dardanelles—Success in

France.

Advices from the Dardanelles state that considerable advance has been made by the British and French forces in the southern area of the Galiipoli Peninsula. Turkish attacks against the Australian and New Zealand Corps have been repulsed, the enemy's losses being heavy. A message received in New York, via London, states that the Italian Ministers for War and Marine have declared a state of war to exist in the Italian provinces on the Austrian frontier;

also m the island communes

along the Adriatic coast. Active for hostilities are made on the frontier, and the Italian War Bill has been passed by the Senate. King Emmanuel has declared a general mobilisation on land and sea. A great struggle is proceeding in the area between the Pilica River, south of Poland, and the Carpathians. It is estimated that nearly 1,500,000 are engaged on each side. In the south of Poland the Russians have- pressed back the enemy successfully. British troops. have repelled a strong attack north of La Basse, the Germans' losses being severe. French troops, have advanced north of Arras.
