•INSTRUCTIONS FOR KNITTING The following are instructions for making the heelless socks and other comforts for our boys :- • " BALACLAVA HELMETS " Required : 2 skeins Roslyn 3or 4-ply or Special fingering. One pair bone, wooden, or vulcanite needles No, 10. Cast on 96 stitches Knit 22 rows plain garter stitch Knit 14 rows 2 plain 2 purl Cast off 16 stitches each side Knit 60 rows plain garter stitch Cast off 16 stitches on each side Knit 25 rows and cast off. 2nd piece : Oast on 96 stitches Knit 20 rows, 2 plain and 2 purl. HEELLESS SOCKS No. 14 needles. Cast on 76 stitchen Knit 4 inch purl and plain, thes knit plain until 20 inches are worked. Take in every 5 or 6 stitches with three rows between until 24 stitches remain on needle. Knit 2 together until end. CHOLERA BELTS Eecpired : 3 skeins special or .Lioslyn 3 or -1 ply. One pair bone or vulcanite needles No. 10. Cast on 100 stitches ; knit 25 lows 2 rib 2 purl. Knit 100 rows plain garter stitch.
