THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 1915. PRESENT Messrs E. T. Field (chairman), J. Lambert, J. Wilson, T. Elliott, Becroft, G. Sellars, and the clerk (Mr H. W. Stringer). * MINUTES Minutes of the previous meet" ing were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence read and either dealt with or laid upon the table. FIRE HOSE The Captain of the Fire Brigade was authorised to purchase 500 ft of hose. v j TEMPORARY CROSSING'^ } Permission was granted to Dr Phippen to put a temporary wooden crossing over the gutter in front of his premises in First Avenue. STORAGE OF EXPLOSIVES The Auckland Fire Underwriters' Association wrote asking if the Board had any by-laws dealing with the storage of explosives, etc. —The Clerk was instructed to reply that the Board had no by-laws or regulations dealing with the subject. THE LINDAUER COLLECTION A letter was received from the acting-Consul for Belgium, asking for a donation towards the purchase of the Lindauer collection of Maori pictures for the Auckland Province, as set out in the conditions stipulated by the donor, Mr H. E. Partridge.—lt was decided that subscription lists be left with the hotel-keep-ers arid store-keepers. Also that a street collection be organised by Mr Becroft. RATE DEFAULTERS It was decided that all rates outstanding after Saturday, 24th April, be placed in the hands of the Board's solicitor for collection. SHELLY BEACH WHARF The Board resolved to give its proportion of the old timber from the Helensville Swing Bridge to theWaitemata County Council, to be used in the erection of the proposed wharf at Shelly Beach.
