THE CHURCHES

St. Matthew's Church, Helensville, was fairly well filled on Easter Sunday evening last, when the vicar, Rev. C. J. Merton gave a very int resting sermon appropriate for the occasion, at which a special appeal was made to help reduce the debt; over £11 was the result, but a number of outside envelopes are expected to swell this somewhat. * « -::■

A social evening under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church, was held last week at Mr Jones' residence, Kaukapakapa, when a very pleasant and enjoyable time was spent. The programme consisted of songs, recitations, games, etc.

Harvest Thanksgiving Service will be held in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening next at 7 p.m.

Gifts of fruit, produce, and flowers are solicited, and can be left at the Manse on Friday or Saturday.
