HELENSVILLE SPORTS CLUB

EASTER SPORTS POSTPONED

At a meeting of the above Club, held in the Public Library on Monday evening last, the 29th ult., the question of postponing the annual sports was discussed.

There were present : Messrs Tui McEwin (in the chair), E. H. Cucksey, J. C. Taylor, F. McKenzie, J. Downer, and P. G. Comes (secretary). The matter was thoroughly gone into by those members present, and after due consideration it was finally resolved that the Easter Monday Sports be postponed until further notice. The reason given was that the N.Z. Athletic Union (under which these Sports were registered) instead of keeping their follhwers together, as we were informed he y would do on our affiliating with them, they have been trying to compromise with the North Auckland Union without notifying the local Club of the fact, and now. in consequence of their action, the competitors desirous of running this season without fear of disqualification, immediately went over to the N.A.U., thus leaving this Club with no option but to' postpone-. However, it is intended to get into touch with the N.A.U., with a view of affiliating with that body, and holding a sports meeting under their jurisdiction at an early date, notice of which will be given in due course.
