"ROOSTERS'" COMPETITIONS On Friday last one of the most exc'.ting finishes was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd, when the " holders," Messrs Hammond and Gallagher, met and defeated the " challengers," Messrs Coutts and Smith, by the narrow margin of J point. The next challengers, Messrs Garry and Constable, succumbed to the same holders, by 31 to 17. Capt. Sellars and Mr Graham meet the " holders " this afternoon (Thursday) when, no doubt, an exciting contest will be witnessed. HANDICAP SINGLES (Final Section) Harris (scratch) beat Cullens (4) Smith (5) beat Harris (scratch) Smith (5) beat Bishop (8) CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES The final for the championship was played off on Tuesday afternoon. The playe-is, Hammond v. Smith, were even on the 21st head, and one head was played to decide the winner. Smith with his last bowl drew the shot Hammond then played, beating Smith, and thus winning the championship. Twelve members of the Ponsonby Bowling Club, have arranged to come up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All intending local players are requested to send in their names to Mr Harris, caretaker of the Springs, when the matches will be arranged. A full rink is to be played on Saturday at the Springs, between the Governmont and Awaroa teams. Government teamHammond, Smith, Callagher, Driscoll Awaroa team, Harris, Cullen Graham, Rimmer. Piay to start 3.30 p.m. sharp.
