Three skirmishes are reported near the Suez Canal. At one point the Turks brought material to build a bridge to the . banks of the canal. When attacked by the British they fled in disorder, abandoning their material. Several of them were drowned. Other two attacks were easily repulsed. Russian cavalry have advanced through several of the Pl**'"l-/ in the Carpathians, and ta&R»enetrated to the Hungarian plains. The passes are now held by the Russians, who report that the Austrians are fleeing in front of them. The Germans at Dunkirk made an attack on the French in massed formation on Sunday with the object of recovering' possession of the great dune. The attack was unsuccessful. A Berlin message published.in New York says the Germans have abandoned all hope of keeping Italy and Roumania out of the war.
