The Turkish campaign has resulted in terrible desolation and wholesale massacres in r Armenia. Fifty thousand homeless Armenians are streaming through the valleys in the Caucasus into Russia. Many ■children have been abandoned on the roads, an-d adults are dying from cold and hunger. The Turks have invaded Persia in the hope, it is believed, of thus reaching a vulnerable part of the Russian frontier. The German ports of Hamburg Lubeck, and Cuxhaven, all in 4he vicinity of Kiel Canal, have been declared in a state of siege. It is supposed that this is a precautionary measure against the possibility of a .British attack. An effort by German submarines to enter Dover 'Harbour failed.
