LAND BOARD IN THE NORTH
A SPECIAL sitting of the Crown Land Roard was held on Thursday at Dargaville, when in addition to matters affecting holdings in the district, a considerable amount of business in connection with the province was transacted. Mr J. G. Coates, Member for Kaipara, laid before the Board 'the widespread demand for makin.g available for settlement the Tangowahine climatic reserve, Tangihua reserve, and Crown areas in the Waimatenui district, to which the Board sympathetically replied, and intimated that the requests would have immediate consideration The Board subsequently proceeded by launch to Naumai, and made a lengthy inspection of sections recently balloted for, and which are being drained under large scheme. Several selectors interviewed the Board, and were informed that their requests for non-payment of rent for three years would be aceded to. A considerable area of alluvio.-l (\ats was traverse;} before returning to Bargaville. The Board members will return in February, whon a ballot tor sections on the B,urch Estate, in the Maunganui Valley vjill he held.
