Off to the Front Another batch of men will leave Whangarei on Saturday fertile camp at Trentham, where they will remain in training prior to leaving the Dominion. They will hoip to form the third expeditionary; force, but the time of their departure is naturally unknown. During the last few weeks volunteers have been leaving Whangarei for Auckland individually and in batches. The men belong to No. 3 Group, which extends from Birkenhead to North Cape. Suppressing Political Nuisance Before the next election comes round will somebody form a society for .the suppression of the habital mover of motions at political gatherings. Some people delude themselves into believing that they are assisting the candidate of their heart, but, as a matter of fact, their actions have usually a directly opposite effect. A case in point is that of Mr C. E. Major, who has followed the Opposition candidate for Manukau, Mr J. W. McLarin to most of his meetings, and has duly moved a motion of confidence, which he habitually prefaces by a speech of about ISmins Time and again the audience has shown its disapproval, more especially as it is claimed D. E. Major is not an elector of. the Manukau. The people were beginning to wonder, so verbose is Mr Major, as to who is the Liberal candidate for tlie district.
