The Auckland Farmers' Union, Limited, report:— We held our usual monthly sale at Kamo on the Ist inst,, when we offered before a large attendance more than the advertised number of cattle. A large proportion of the beef yarded came from the Mangakahia district, a bullock of Mr W. Alison's realising £18. A full yarding, of beef changed hands at good prices, the competition for cow beef becoming more active as the sale advanced. There was a keen demand for fresh well-grown steers, which found buyers after most spirited bidding. Thera was a small yarding of empty cows and cows and calves, and here again the demand exceeded the supply. A moderate yarding ot young cattle changed hand^gat satisfactory prices, good quality steers being eagerly sought after. We quote ;— : Steer beef, 33s to 36 6d ; cow beef, 27s 6d to 31s 6d; • good quality store steers, £7 10s to £8 12s 6d ; three-year steers, £6 5s to £7 6s ; 2-year olds, £5 to £5 10s; 18-months, £3 10s to £4 4s ; yeaclings, £2 17s 6d to £3 10s ; cows and calves, up to £7 2s 6d ; empty cows, up £415s ; heifers, 2-year old, £3 17s 6d to £4 7s 6d; good quality yearlings, £2 15s to £3 ! others, £2 to £2 7s 6d. At Whangarei, on the 2nd inst., there was only a small yarding of cattle which changed hands at prices qn a par with those ruling at Kanjo on the previous day.
