DEATH OF AN OLD SETTLER
IMr Edwin ®, Ci^emeto, who i died tjiis wee,k was one of the ! oldest settlers on the Kaipara | Flats. He was born in Deal, | Kent, in 1832, and served in the I British Navy in the Baltic, on ! the China Station and South ; Africa, receiving his discharge :in 1857. He came Jfew ; Zealand the fql]qwmg year, and soon, kiuer wards settled at : Kaipara Flats. He has been-a | lay reader at St. Clement's • Church-for the last 45 years and j was a _ member qf \M Masonic frateyrnh,.. Ijieeeased is survived by a. widow, five sons and eleven I daughters, 56 grandchildren and, ' 13 great-grandchildren.
