The oldest printed book in the New World is in the library of the late Emperor of Mexico, Maximilian. It is the work of Cumeregua, entitled, "Doctrina," printed at Mexico in the year 1513, in quarto, and in Gothic type. The Scotsman keeps the Sabbath and everything else he lays his hands on ; the Welshman prays on his knees on Sunday and on his neighbours on week day?.—Dr. Chavasse. 1423.
