WOMEN AGAINST WAR
Thousands of sombre clad woman marched down Fifth Avenue, New York, on August 29, to the beat of muffled drums to signify their opposition to war • Nearly all wore black dresses and black hats,, and at the head of the procession marched a standard-bearer with a large white flag inscribed in black with thq word "Peace." Women of Teutonic, Slav and Gallic extraction marched side, by side as evidence of the solidarity of tqeir sex against the cruelties of war.
