Odd Gift to a Prince.

Probably the oddest birthday gift on record—an old unused railway ticket—was received by Prince Oscar, the Kaiser's fifth son, on the .occasion of his recent ■ birthday. The story connected with this unusual present is as follows :— Twenty-five years ago a simple inhabitant of a small neighbouring town was in Berlin on. business, and by chance happened to be standing before the Royal palace when the salute announcing the Prince's birth was fired. The visitor, filled with patriotism, returned home. By some oversight the guard neglected to collect the ticket, which bore the date, July 27th, and which has been carefully preserved all these years.
