HELENSVILLE TENNIS CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING
THE annual meeting of the above club was held in the Star Theatre on Friday last, a large number of members attending.
The balance sheet was produced, showing an amount of £68 overdraft, after paying off the land, painting of courts, and general improvements, etc., which is considered very satisfactory, as the present year's subscriptions will bring.it down to just about half the amount of the liabilities.
Mr Jas. Stewart has kindly offered to donate the timber to erect a nov; pnvH'on on the same pattern as the one erected for the Awaroa Bowling Club, also a flag-pole. This is a very generous offer, which should be accepted at once, and work on it commenced as soon as possible, as the pavilion would be a valuable asset to the Club and help to beautify the surroundings. There was some comment on trying to arrange the opening day, for same day as the Awaroa Bowling Club, which would no doubt make it a gala day for Helensville, say, for instance, on Labour Day.
The officers elected were: President, Mi: J. §A. Wilson ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs James Stewart, E. Field, A. Becroft, Jas. Hand, and Captain Sellars ; Committee, Messrs A. J. Hill, C. Snndin, W. Sandin, C. White, G.. Murphy., and P.Williams; Ladies' Committee, Mrs Eames, Mrs Allen, Mrs Sandin, Mrs Sewell, ahd Miss Simcock ; Auditor, Mr H. W. Stringer; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr Wilfred Allen.
