ABOLTSH TELEPHONE CALL BOXES.
The telephone transmitter patented by Mr. Maximilian Weil, of New York, is designed to give privacy to communications without the use of a special cabinet. The mouthpiece fits closely around the mouth of the speaker, and a speaking chamber between this and the diaphragm has vacuum jacketed walls. This chamber receives the spoken message, wihich sets up vibration in the diaphragm in the usual way without any escape of the sounds into the room occupied by the
speaker
The elephant has so delicate a sense of smell that it can scent a human being when the latter is a thousand yards off.
