FOOTBALL

MARIST BROS. v. HELENSVILLE

One of the most enjoyable games played at Helensville this season by the local boys, took place last Saturday between the above teams. Most of the local teams consisted of juniors, with the exception of two or three, and on the whole a fair exhibition of Rugby was given by both sides. In fact some of the passing rushes were a treat to watch, and it is clear that in some respects the juniors can show the senior players a point or two worth remembering.

Although the local team were the heavier, Marist Bros, more than held their own. o The play was very even right through, both backs and forwards taking part. The final scores were 12 points all, and it was only on the call of time that Helensville made a draw of it.

Mr J. Downer was referee.

In the evening the visitors were entertained at a dinner in the Helensville Hotel, and Mrs and Mrs Cucksey as usual, greatly assisted to the success of the evening with their splendid spread. The^usual round of toasts and musical items terminaied a most enjoyable

proceeding.
