A Ladder for Orchard Use.

The sketch shows a ladder which is very convenient for working amongst trees of a moderate size. The sides at top converge, and are spliced to a single light batten which extends about four feet beyond the former, whilst at the base they widen out to a breadth of three feet, thus securing a steady base.

The single batten is easily thrust in amongst the boughs without knocking the fruit about, or to rest on a substantial branch when working, and the width at bottom saves it canting to either side.
