THE KAIPARA AND WAITEMATA ECHO WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED "THE KAIPARA ADVERTISER & WAITEMATA CHRONICLE." HELENSVILLE, FRIDAY, SEPT. 11, 1914. TOWN BOARD ELECTION
" Here we are again ! Yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice," as the Showman said. And as there are no less than thirteen candidates announced by the Returning Officer, ready and willing to jump into seven seats to wear out in a couple of years, surely the electors may well " take yer choice." At anyrate, there is an opportunity now offering that never occurred before, of selecting seven capable men from a bunch of thirteen, willing to serve on the Helensville Town Board, and do their best to raise the standard of progress for the welfare of one and all; encourage many others to come in and settle amongst us, and do all possible towards making the whole progressive with happy, sanitary, and beautifying surroundings. As the Town Board members also constitute the Domain Board, having jurisdiction over our greatest asset, the Hot Springs, baths, etc,, the ratepayers next Wednesday are virtually casting a dual vote for men to act in a dual position, both equally paramount to each other. It is not for the Echo to influence voters either way, but we do appeal to them to use discretion in choice, so that they may not be disappointed and regret having helped to elect one or any misfit, if there be one or several amongst the candidates.
