Fasten to the top bar of the gate a piece of wood wttth a hole in one end, through which pass a piece of rope and knot it. Now carry the rope over a cotton reel nailed to the top rail, as shown, and tie to the end / of it a large
stone,
When the gate is opened the piece of wood raises the stone, which in turn closes the gate.
