THE WAR!

ALL AT LOGGERHEADS

Britain, France, Russia,

Germany, Servia.

Since our last issue war has broken out in earnest, and the aspect looks decidedly active and serious, while the man in the street appears to know all about it, and will tell you how the enemy —if he knows who the enemy is, and how many nations are involved —is going to fare.

Germany wants a big say in the game, and has already attempted to invade Belgian territory, which she was denied permission to cross, in order to covey her troops by sea to the Austria-Hungary territory, and has received a smart repulse, so that we can safely say now "War has commenced." Conflicting news states that the Germans are also in France, and that the French are in Germany.

The French have at any rate seized two German cruisers, and sunk another on the coast of Algeria. A point blank sign that she means business when Germany violates her treaty with ' other nations.

We may safely expect shortly to hear of a big naval engagement in the North Sea between England and Germany. This is what the average Britisher is anxiously waiting for. The great trial of strength.

The Kaiser blames Russia for much of the trouble, and the Bear says his last soldier shall die before Russia sues for peace.

The French and Germans have had a sharp engagement at Nancy The French killed 50 of the enemy and captured 75.
