TENNIS CLUB BALL

A MOST enjoyable ball, 'under the auspices of the Helensville Tennis Club was held In the Star Theatre on Thursday, 23rd inst. There were present about 45 couples, and dancing was continued with zest throughout till an early hour of the morning. The floor was in good order, and the music, which was supplied by Meredith's Band, was everything that could be desired. The catering was in the capable hands of the ladies of the Club, assisted by several of their friends, and they are to be congratulated on the manner in which they so successfully carried out their particular issue of the Ball. Messrs C. G. Sandin, W. Allen, P. Williams, and C. White proved very capable Ms.C. The chaperons present were : Mesdames Oxley, McLeod, Wilson, and McGarvey. The following ladies' dresses were noticeable ; — Mrs Allen, white satin with swansdown trimming Mrs Carl Sandin, pretty shell pink satin and lace Mrs Eames, black silk Mrs Ellet, blue velvet and very handsome lace Mrs Coutts, pale blue satin with sequin trimming Mrs Sewell, white satin with lace tunic Mrs Screaton, white satin with lace embroidered overskirt Mrs Lambert, black velvet and lace Miss Hafford, pale heliotrope satin and sequin trimmings Miss M. Rimmer, pale yellow satin relieved with rich lace and tiny rosebuds Miss Ganley, black velvet and lace Miss Stanaway, very becoming blue silk Miss Donovan, handsome crimson velvet, with lace tunic Miss Becroft, pale blue silk voile Miss Cullens, dainty white frock Miss W. McLeod, esquisite pale blue silk with double tunic Miss Gregory (Auckland), pale pink satin, trimmed with soft lace Miss Masters, strikingly pretty dress of ruby velvet trimmed with swansdown. Miss Stewart, pretty dew-drop net Miss Nita McLeod, black velvet with artistic pink trimmings Miss Hunter, white silk Miss Masters, crimson satin, black la cc drapings Others present were: Mesdames Field, Masters, Stokes, Harrris, Cullens, and Bishop, and the Misses T. and G.
