THE KAIPARA RUGBY UNION
At a meeting of the above Union, hel<j>_ on Friday last, it was decided to advise the Auckland Rugby Union that it was the intention of the local Union •to forward a team to compete at the Country Week tournaments, ■ but also further assistance financially than was proposed by the Auckland Union was asked for. It was the intention of the local Union to guarantee up to £12 10s in which would be included the Auckland grant. However, owing to several of the country Unions having to play Shield matches and others having various other reasons owing to which they would not be able to send their representatives' to Auckland, the Auckland Union decided to abandon the Tournaments this year. The'^jfc.al players, as well as the Union, arfßisappointed, as they were looking forward to showing up well at Country Week, and provided the best team could have gone, were hopeful of winning the B grade,,, tournament, in which this Union was classed.
The Union now are trying to arrange for Auckland Junior Reps, to visit Helensville on Saturday, August 8.
The following Saturday (August 15) our reps, will be battling for supremacy with Northern Wairoa for the Harding Shield.
As Otamatea has asked for the 22nd August for their return -match here, the Union have accepted same provided that date does not interfere with Shield matches.
August 29 has been offered Northern Wairoa Junior reps, for a match here.
The Parnell Club has notified the local secretary of its its intention of sending a team later in the (season.
