Dusseldorf philanthropists have collected about £18,000 for the iiirchuso of mesothorium preparaion, rliscovered by the Berlin doctor, Otto Hahn, assistant of GeicJmraUi Fischer, and successfully itilised in the treatment of cancer. The money collected, however, is inly sufficient for the treatment of v.o patients. Each patient requires ibout lialt' a gram, and one gram •osts, roughly, £13,000. 'Mosolhorium is a preparation de•ived from thorium earth, from ■vhi-h also is derived the material ■mployod in the manufacture of in■andoscent mantles.
