"Is that you, George dear V she inquired, after the usual wait.
"S-s-h !" came the necessary warning. "I'm George Johnson. Who are you ?"
"I'm your wife, George. What do you think ?" George thought that in all probability his wife's mother had paid one of her surprise visits.
He said so with a growl
"You always were good at guessing, George," said his wife.
"It's a pity it should happen Ifke this," Mr. Johnson remarked. "I've just got into business that will keep me here till late. I won't be home till eleven at the earliest. Can'f possibly get out of it."
