A certain pompous magnate was averse to any public display of affection, and one day, when his wife had stolen up behind him, and kissed him, he haughtily exclaimed :
"Madam, I consider such an act ex-
tremely indecorous."
To which the wife of his bosom replied, meekly :
" Oh, pray excuse me ; I didn't know it was you !" {
