HELENSVILLE BRASS BAND
TO THE EDITOJS,
Sir, —It was with pleasure v which I feel sure was shared by all good townspeople) that I heard the strains of our Local Band on Saturday even-, ing last. I considnr that with the go;d pi ogress they have made under the able conductorsriip of Mr Hunter they could have taken this move long ago. We, at citizens, like to hear our local talent, and observe their, progress. I- feel sure it would be to their financial advantage to be out either weekly or fortnightly, weather permitting. In addition to brightenmg up our little town, it would give them confidence, and also give many sympathisers' an opportunity of. contributing their mite that they—the Band-would not get otherwise. ■Last Saturday night's outing proved very beneficial financially. Our business people would hand out in bettergrace, feeling they were helping a deseiving- object. I would like to see a movement in the shape of a series ot socials started to either provide more instruments (if wanted) or a Band rotunda erected if a suitable sife can be secured. Trusting to hear soon from a more able pen.— 1 am, etc , Caledonia.
