A BAD WITNESS.
A small Scottish hoy was r ?5" moned to give evidence against nis father, who was accused of makinsr disturbances in the street. Said the magistrate to him: "Come, my wee mem, sneak the truth, and let ns know all ye ken ahont this affair." "Wpel. sir." said the lad, "d'ye ken Inverness Street?" "I do. laddie." replied his Worship. "Weel. ye gang along it, and turn into the square, and cross the son are " "Yes. yes," said the bailie, enconragiTigly. "An* when ye gang across the sgnare, ye turn to the right, and lip into High Street, and keep on nn Hisrh Street till ye come to a pnmp." "Quite right, my lad ; proceed," said his "Worship. "T know the old mimp well." "Wfill.»» said the hoy, with the most infantile simplicity, "ye may gang and pnmp it, for yell no pnmp me."
