THE CANDIDATE
TO TITE EDITOR
SIR, —I was one of the number who joined in the banquet to Sir Joseph Ward on Thursday last, and also attended the political address delivered by Sir Joseph in the Star Theatre. At the banquet I was quite taken with the oratorial eloquence of the Liberal candidate for Kaipara, when proposing the health of Sir Jpseph. I was also more than disgusted,to hear him deliver exactly the same speech, word for word, on the platform when speaking to the motion of thanks. It is little wonder he has now been nicknamed the "Woodhill ' Patriot." Surely when a man aspires to the position of representing us in Parliament, he should at least be able to stand up and support a vote of thanks without repeating what he had said about two hours previously. I am sure Sir Joseph must have thought he had a cumbersome load to take on his |(Lj>ack to place Mr Hoe at the head of the poll at the forthcoming election for Kaipara.—l am, etc., An Elector for Kaipara.
